The exhibition attracted manufacturers, brand owners, retailers, distributors, and channel partners from Azerbaijan and neighboring countries in the construction and decoration materials sector. Notable attendees included well-known wholesalers from CIS countries such as Leroy Merlin, Obi, Fix Price, Bravik, and Lenta Building Materials, who came for negotiations and procurement. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to engage in face-to-face communication with potential customers and establish long-term partnerships.

Azerbaijan Introduction:

Azerbaijan is located in the southeastern part of the South Caucasus region at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, covering an area of 86,600 square kilometers. It borders the Caspian Sea to the east, Iran and Turkey to the south, Russia to the north, faces Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan across the Caspian Sea to the east, and neighbors Georgia and Armenia to the west. Connecting Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Russia, it is one of the countries along the China-Europe Railway Express route, a key node and trade corridor of the Belt and Road Initiative, and home to numerous trade ports including the largest port on the Caspian Sea, the Port of Baku, giving it a natural advantage in international trade logistics. In 2025, Azerbaijan's GDP reached 75.94 billion US dollars, with a real GDP growth rate of 1.4% for the year. As of July 2025, Azerbaijan's population was 10.4 million, featuring a young demographic structure with significant consumption potential. The nation is characterized by its lively nature, love for socializing, and enthusiasm for parties.

Azerbaijan is rich in oil and gas resources, ranking 20th in the world for oil reserves and 9th for natural gas reserves. The oil and gas sector, along with related industries, accounts for over 70% of the country's GDP, earning it the nickname "Little Dubai of West Asia." The country's economy is primarily based on energy from oil and gas extraction, supplemented by industries such as automobile repair, trade, agriculture, and a small amount of manufacturing. Productivity in terms of living necessities is relatively low, with most supplies relying on imports, particularly high-quality products. In 2024, China became Azerbaijan's second-largest trading partner and the largest source of imports, with 45% of China's trade volume with the South Caucasus region coming from Azerbaijan.

Development Trends and Future Prospects of Building Materials, Hardware, and Decoration Industry:

Azerbaijan's Construction, Real Estate, and Decoration Market

In recent years, Azerbaijan has experienced rapid economic development, leading to sustained growth in demand within the construction, real estate, and decoration industries.

Driven by government initiatives to promote urbanization and infrastructure development, the demand for building materials, hardware, and decorative products is showing a diversified trend.

Azerbaijan's building materials market has undergone rapid development over the past decade, with the construction sector's economic output accounting for 12% of the country's total economic volume. Following the successful economic reforms and achievements of other energy-based economies, the Azerbaijani government, while consolidating oil and gas development, has begun actively developing non-oil industries to promote comprehensive national economic growth. Among these, large-scale infrastructure projects, tourism services, and the retail sector have shown remarkable development momentum. The Khazar Islands infrastructure project, with an estimated cost of 100 billion US dollars, has attracted attention from across Asia and the world. The entire project covers an area of 24 square kilometers, consisting of 41 artificial islands and 19 districts, including 60 high-rise residential buildings, 150 schools, 50 kindergartens and hospitals, as well as numerous cinemas, theaters, restaurants, shopping centers, and parks. Residential areas will cover 8 million square meters, of which 4 million square meters will be allocated for shopping and commercial centers, and another 4 million square meters for hotels and apartments. Over 1 million people are expected to reside here—it will be a new Venice-like city.

Furthermore, the Azerbaijani government plans to attract more foreign direct investment, aiming to increase FDI's share of GDP from 2.6% to 4% to strengthen development in non-oil economic sectors. Additionally, as one of the easiest countries for conducting trade in the CIS region, Azerbaijan's construction industry is developing rapidly with enormous market demand. Official data shows that the total value of construction projects in Azerbaijan reaches as high as 285 billion US dollars, demonstrating the country's substantial demand for building materials. Azerbaijan's annual imports of building materials, hardware, and decorative products average approximately 2.3 billion US dollars. This figure has shown steady growth in recent years.

In recent years, with China's rapid economic development, Azerbaijanis have actively begun learning about Chinese culture and have signed multiple cooperation agreements with China. The bilateral relationship remains friendly, and under the framework of Belt and Road cooperation, Chinese enterprises receive policy support and favorable conditions. There has been substantial purchasing of Chinese goods, sparking a "China fever" locally where "Made in China" products are well-received.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries:

The Belt and Road must be translated as "the Belt and Road." During this meeting, the two sides issued the Joint Statement on Establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Azerbaijan and signed a series of cooperation documents in areas such as the joint construction of the Belt and Road and connectivity. In April 2025, the bilateral relationship was further elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership, and an agreement on mutual visa exemptions for citizens holding ordinary passports was signed. Since 2017, Azerbaijan has actively participated in the Belt and Road Initiative and sought new opportunities for cooperation across various industries. The development strategies of the two countries align closely, and cooperation in jointly building the Belt and Road continues to advance. In 2024, bilateral trade between China and Azerbaijan reached $2.47 billion, marking a 43.3% year-on-year increase. From January to September 2025, bilateral trade reached $2.15 billion, reflecting a 24.3% year-on-year growth.
